  We live in one world with many cultures and many styles of communication. It is essential for us today recognize that understanding and appreciating intercultural differences ultimately promotes clearer communication and is an indespensible prerequisite of business success. Intercultural Communication online course at ENGLISH4REAL aims to help learners develop their international and global communication skills especially in the area of cross-cultural relations while doing business in Ukraine and Russia.

  2. Cultural Perspectives: Beliefs, culture, values, ethics, customs and national character

  8. Business in Russia/Ukraine – features, traditions and ethics
  9. Comparative analysis of Russian/Ukrainian and Western business practices
  10. Making appointments
  11. Negotiations
  12. Management
  13. Western perceptions of Russia
  14. Russian attitudes to foreigners

  Types of Assignments:

  1. Students will read approximately one chapter-length assignment per week

  2. Students must be able to take notes from their textbook and supplementary readings

  3. Short papers. These reports may require research

  4. Students must be able to write well-organized papers, free from major errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

  Course objectives:

  To provide students with an understanding of:

  1. The major issues that affect intercultural communication, especially when doing business in Russia and Ukraine.

  2. The skills necessary in creating effective intercultural communication with Russian and Ukrainian partners.

  3. The effective ways in overcoming major obstacles in intercultural communication while working with Russian/Ukrainian businesses.
